CruiseLink for Android
It is built, it works, and it is in testing before it goes on the Google Play store. You can use it now, but Google needs your email address on a list first. Put it in below and we will add you, usually within a day.
Join the Android test
We use your address to add you to the test and for nothing else. No newsletters, nothing passed on to anybody. We delete it once the app is public. What we store.
What happens next
- We add your address to the test. This is done by hand, so it usually takes a few hours and at most a day.
- Google emails you a link. It comes from Google Play, not from us.
- Open the link on your phone and tap Install. It installs from the Play Store like any other app.
If nothing has arrived after a day, email [email protected] and we will look.
Two things you will notice, and both are normal
- It may be called "uk.co.maxyouell.cruiselink (unreviewed)". That is what Google shows for an app still in testing. It is the right app.
- The test version sends us timings — how long messages took and which route they travelled — so we can fix problems. It never sends your messages or anyone's name, and you can switch it off in the Me tab.
Meanwhile, on iPhone
If anyone in your group has an iPhone, they can install the finished version today, and the two work together — an iPhone and an Android phone pass messages to each other perfectly well.
What CruiseLink does
It lets your group message each other onboard without buying the ship's internet. Phones pass messages straight to each other over Bluetooth, and over the ship's wifi where the ship allows guests to reach each other.
It is not instant across a whole ship: a message travels when phones come near enough, directly or carried by another phone in your group. And everyone needs it installed before you sail. Setting a group up takes about fifteen minutes.
